Banks have established a certain number of days a year where they will remain closed and clients will not be able to carry out their transactions. For 2024, the Bank of Spain has published the calendar with seven specific dates marked in red. Users who carry out their procedures in person will have to organize to do so on other days, if they do not want to suffer delays.

Although currently, most banking procedures are carried out online, there are groups that require the assistance of personnel. Such is the case of older people, such as retirees and pensioners, who are not familiar with the use of new technologies.

That is to say, these will be the most affected by the closure of banks in Spain, which will not be able to provide them with specialized service with a professional, as CaixaBank or BBVA do with their 'senior' programs.

What are the days when entities will not open their doors?

According to the Bank of Spain, "these mentioned in the Official State Gazette (BOE) for each autonomous community will be considered non-business days...and local holidays at both the headquarters and the branches must also be taken into account." In the resolution of October 23, 2023, published in the BOE, the list of parties is published national and regional by 2024.
