Discounts for young people on travel
Today, the Council of Ministers of Spain is to approve an initiative that will provide young people aged 18 to 30 with the opportunity to travel around Spain and Europe with significant discounts on bus and train fares. This program, known as Verano Joven, was successfully launched last year and provided significant financial benefits to young people during the summer holidays.
The success of Verano Joven 2023
As part of the Verano Joven 2023 plan, discounts on train and bus tickets reached 90%, which allowed many young people to travel around the country and abroad with minimal costs. This step was aimed at encouraging youth tourism and promoting the mobility of young people, giving them the opportunity to explore new places and cultures without experiencing financial difficulties.
Registration process for receiving discounts
In order to take advantage of the offered discounts, young people had to fill out a free form on the Ministry of Transport's website and register at least 24 hours before purchasing their first ticket. This process was simple and convenient, which contributed to the wide participation of young people in the program.
In 2024, the government plans to maintain similar conditions and the level of discounts, which is confirmed by the upcoming decision of the Council of Ministers. It is assumed that the initiative will include discounts on travel not only on domestic routes in Spain, but also on international routes within Europe, which will expand opportunities for youth travel.
