Contracting of Works for Access to the Port of Torrevieja
The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, informs that the Local Government Board (JGL) of the Torrevieja City Council awarded last Friday at an extraordinary Local Government Meeting the contracting of the works of provisional access to the port of Torrevieja, to the mercantile ORTHEM SERVICIOS Y ACTUACIONES AMBIENTALES S.A.U., for an amount of 499,647 euros (VAT included), which has meant a 10% decrease with respect to the basic bidding budget. Also, yesterday afternoon the Health and Safety Plan of these provisional works of access to the Torrevejense port was approved.
Details of the Port Access Project
Yesterday, the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with the councilor responsible for Markets, Antonio Vidal, was meeting in the plenary hall of the City Council with the merchants of the Paseo de La Libertad, the so-called “hippies”, the heads of APYMECO, of the Association of Hospitality Companies of Torrevieja and Region, and neighbors of the area, to inform them that the preliminary surveying and ground preparation works have already begun.
Eduardo Dolón has informed that from next Monday these access works to the port of Torrevieja will begin, with the execution of the provisional roundabout located between Waldo Calero square, María Parodi Street and Castelar Square, which will give access to the new commercial area and which will have an outer diameter of 26 meters, two internal circulation lanes of 3.5 meters wide and inner ring of 9 meters in diameter, as well as an independent access lane. In addition, 16 9-meter-high poles will be installed for the street lighting luminaires both at the roundabout and at the access to the port, and the corresponding indicative vertical signage. Some works that are going to start with the demolition of part of the fence that currently separates the Paseo de La Libertad with the port, at the height of the Plaza de Waldo Calero.
Summer Plan: Temporary Suspension of Works in the Port of Torrevieja
Finally, the mayor has announced that the rainwater works that AGAMED is executing in the port of Torrevieja, and that it has a budget of almost 4 million euros, will be interrupted during the summer season, so that the Paseo de La Libertad can remain open throughout the summer, resuming these rainwater works at the beginning of September.
