Currently, 27% of applicants for rent in Malaga are foreigners. This data means that the province is in 4th place in Spain, behind only Alicante (30.3%), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (29.6%) and the Balearic Islands (27.8%). They are followed by Las Palmas, Barcelona, Valencia and Almeria and Girona.

Demand for rental property in Spain

In general, the level of demand varies greatly depending on the location of housing: preference is given to the coast and tourist areas.

According to Idealista, almost 15% of rental requests in Spain come from abroad, one of the highest numbers since 2018.

In December last year, the demand of foreign citizens for renting houses in Spain exceeded the demand for buying by 0.4% (14.5%). As for the analysis of the audience, citizens from Great Britain (dropped to 3rd place) were replaced by residents of Germany and France. In turn, the USA and the Netherlands overtook Italy, which during this time fell from 4th to 6th position.

For the province of Malaga, the United Kingdom remains the leader, and for Madrid, Valencia and Granada, the United States.
