Development

In July 2020, it became known that Amazon Studios was developing a television adaptation of the Fallout video game series led by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. In August 2021, Joy described the series as "eccentric, crazy, funny, adventurous and mind-blowing like you've never seen before."

In January 2022, it became known that the showrunners of the series were Geneva Robertson-Duoret and Graham Wagner.

Narration

In 2296, more than 200 years after the nuclear war, the descendants of the privileged and the rich live in self-contained, well-maintained bunkers, while the rest of humanity survives in harsh conditions. Smart and beautiful Lucy McLean from shelter No. 33 was going to marry the guy from No. 32, but instead their house is attacked by raiders who kidnap her father. Despite everyone's objections, the naive girl goes to the surface determined to find the leader of the raiders, and soon her path crosses with Maximus, a member of the military-religious organization Brotherhood of Steel, and a mutant bounty hunter, formerly the star of westerns Cooper Howard.

Cast selection

In February 2022, Walton Goggins was approved for one of the main roles in the project. The following month, it was announced that Ella Pernell would star in the project. In June 2022, Kyle McLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones and Aaron Moten joined the main cast. In October 2023, it was announced that Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Aggams and Zach Cherry also starred in the series.

Shooting

Stuart Dryberg and Teodoro Manyachi were confirmed as operators. Filming of the first season began on July 5, 2022, and took place in the states of New York, New Jersey and Utah.

Premiere

All eight episodes premiered on April 10, 2024.
