Torrevieja approves new public transport tariffs: what will change for residents and tourists

The municipality of Torrevieja has taken another important step toward launching an updated public transport system. The city council has preliminarily approved new bus fares, which include both affordable prices for most passengers and significant social benefits for certain categories of citizens.

The reform aims to make public transport more convenient, modern, and attractive for both local residents and the many tourists who visit the Costa Blanca coast each year.

How much will a trip cost?

According to the approved tariffs, the price of a single ticket will be €1.35.

For those who use the buses regularly, more advantageous options are available:

• A 10-trip pass — €9, which works out at €0.90 per trip;
• A 20-trip pass — €18, also €0.90 per trip.

Thus, regular passengers will be able to save significantly on daily trips around the city.

Reduced fare — just €0.65

One of the main innovations will be a special reduced fare of €0.65 per trip.

It will be available to:

• Young people under 26;
• Members of large families;
• Citizens who have been registered as unemployed for a long time.

This measure is aimed at supporting the most socially vulnerable groups and increasing the accessibility of public transport.

Unlimited monthly pass

For residents who use buses every day, a Bono 30 pass will be introduced.

It will cost €38 and allow the holder unlimited use of city buses for 30 days.

This type of fare is especially beneficial for students, workers, and anyone who regularly travels around Torrevieja.

New tourist passes

The city has not forgotten about tourists either.

Special tourist cards will be introduced for visitors to Torrevieja:

• 3 days — €8;
• 7 days — €16.

These passes will allow travellers to use the buses freely during their stay, visiting beaches, shopping centres, the promenade, salt lakes, and other city attractions without having to buy a separate ticket for each trip.

Free travel for pensioners

The main social measure will be the Bono Oro (Gold Pass) programme.

It grants the right to completely free use of city buses throughout the year.

It will be available to:

• Residents over 65;
• Pensioners;
• People with a disability of 33% or more.

For many elderly residents, this will significantly reduce transport costs and make getting around the city more comfortable.
