Seven books by J.K. Rowling about Harry Potter will receive new full-fledged audio versions. The release will take place at the end of 2025 exclusively on Amazon's Audible service. Pottermore Publishing is also working on the project, Variety reports.
Exclusive Release on Audible
More than 100 actors, whose names have not yet been announced, will take part in the recording. It is noted that the project has nothing to do with the Warner Bros. film franchise. However, according to representatives of Amazon's Audible, listeners will have an "exciting audio entertainment" thanks to "high-quality sound design, an impressive soundtrack and a variety of characters."
"The story of Harry Potter has fascinated fans around the world for the past three decades. With millions of Audible users listening to books about the boy wizard every day, we are excited to be part of a new chapter in this universe. We hope that the new project will pleasantly surprise both old and new fans of the franchise," said Bob Carrigan, Executive Director of Audible.
Differences Between Original and New Audiobooks
According to him, the new audiobooks will differ from the old versions not only by a full-fledged cast, but also by a "revolutionary" soundscape.
"J.K. Rowling's stories are perfect for the new technologies of creating audiobooks. We are confident that this new immersive experience will attract even more fans to the familiar world of magic," added Neil Blair of Pottermore Publishing.
Each of the seven audiobooks will be released sequentially starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
The original Harry Potter audiobooks with the voices of Stephen Fry and Jim Dale, released in 1999, will remain on Audible. Since they appeared on the service in 2015, more than 1.4 billion hours have listened to them.
Recall that in April 2023, Warner Bros. She announced a series on "Harry Potter". Each season of the show will be based on one of the seven books. It was reported that the series will feature a completely new cast. The series will be released on the Max streaming service in 2026.
Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the main role in the Harry Potter film series, has previously stated that he probably will not appear as a cameo in the upcoming series.
