Family cycling festival returns to Benidorm in an anniversary format

On the first Sunday of May, 4th, Benidorm will once again become the capital of cycling and active lifestyle. On this day, the city will celebrate the 40th edition of the traditional festival "Día de la Bicicleta para Todos", or "Bike Day for All". This mass event annually brings together hundreds of residents and guests of the resort, offering not just a bike ride, but a real celebration of sport, family and urban movement.

Where and when does the ride start?

The festive bike rally starts in the morning, at 9:30 in the Parque de Foietes, located near the center of Benidorm. At this time, the participants are scheduled to gather - cycling enthusiasts of all ages: children, parents, grandparents, teenagers and even tourists who have decided to ride around the sunny city.

At 10:00 — the official start of the race. Participants will set off along the well-known 7.2 km route, which has already become a classic for this annual event. It runs along the picturesque streets of the city: Jaime I, Armada Española, Vicente Llorca Alós, Paseo de Tamarindos — and ends with a return to Foietes Park, where everyone will enjoy raffles, surprises and a positive mood.

Cycling route: easy, safe and picturesque

The route, as the organizers emphasize, is not competitive — it is a walk, not a race. It is ideal for experienced cyclists, as well as for beginners, families with children and elderly participants. The route is 7.2 km long, it runs along flat terrain, without steep climbs or difficult sections. This makes participation accessible to literally anyone who knows how to stay in the saddle and wants to spend the morning actively and positively.

It is important to remember that wearing a helmet is mandatory for all participants - for your own safety.

Organizers and participants: who is behind the festival

The event is traditionally initiated by the Benidorm City Hall Sports Department (Concejalía de Deportes), as well as local cycling clubs such as:

  • Unión Ciclista Benidorm,
  • Club Ciclista Benidorm Beach,
  • Club Ciclista Sol Benidorm.

They are assisted by numerous partners and sponsors who support the promotion of cycling culture and an active lifestyle in the region. Thanks to their joint efforts, the event is becoming larger and more visible every year.

"It's not just a sport - it's an opportunity to be together"

It is no coincidence that the event is held on May 4th - it coincides with Mother's Day, which makes the bike ride especially meaningful and warm. As Sports Advisor Javier Jordá noted:

"This is a great opportunity for families to spend the day together, play sports and foster a love of physical activity in children. A bicycle is not only a means of transport, but also a way to give joy, improve health and share positive moments."

Thus, "Bicycle Day for All" becomes not only a sporting event, but also a social one, uniting generations, strengthening ties between people and emphasizing the values of a healthy lifestyle.

Prizes and raffles: an additional incentive to participate

At the end of the route, all participants will participate in the traditional raffle for bicycles and other useful prizes. This is a great opportunity not only to actively spend the morning, but also, perhaps, to go home on a new bike!

Usually, all registered cyclists participate in the raffle, and the winners are chosen randomly - so everyone has a chance.

Why is it worth participating?

Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t miss this day:

  • It’s a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day with an active family holiday.
  • You’ll be able to meet new people who share your interests.
