The socialist municipal group of Torrevieja will present a motion requesting the Popular Party (PP) to move the Sevillanas Fair from the Station Park to Antonio Soria Park. The socialists have collected the complaints of neighbors and casseteros, who consider that the current location is not suitable for this celebration.

Complaints from neighbors and cashiers

The neighbors have strongly criticized the noise until late at night on weekdays, while the casseteros complain about the lack of space and that the infrastructures in the Station Park are no better than those in the Antonio Soria Park.

In their motion, the socialists point out that what was initially conceived as a temporary solution, has lasted for two editions without any solutions for the future being proposed. The complaints include the lack of space for "tablaos" and the installation of the stage at ground level, which has prevented enjoying the performances of the dance academies, one of the strengths of the May Fair.

The spokeswoman, Bárbara Soler, stresses the need to take these complaints seriously to recover the greatness of the Sevillanas Fair. According to her, moving the fair to the Antonio Soria Park is the solution that everyone seems to agree with. Otherwise, he warns, the May Fair could disappear.

Response to the arguments of the local government

The municipal socialist group rejects the arguments of the government team, which points out the lack of adequate connections for the supply of water and electricity in the Antonio Soria Park. The socialists argue that the current location, the Station Park, has less infrastructure and that the same logistics services can be implemented in the Antonio Soria Park.

Advantages of Antonio Soria Park

The Antonio Soria Park was conceived precisely to host fairs, thus being the ideal place for the Sevillanas Fair. In contrast, the Station Park requires adaptations and its closure for several weeks to host the event.

The socialist municipal group raises its motion to the plenary to initiate the necessary procedures and actions to provide the Antonio Soria Park with the appropriate infrastructures, with the aim of holding the next Sevillanas Fair there. To repeat the festival one more year in an inappropriate location would be, according to them, to belittle the effort of those who have kept the May Fair alive despite the obstacles.
