The driver of Renfe left the train halfway
The driver refused to drive the train 60 km before arriving at the final station. It is noted that 80 passengers were on board the Renfe train.
On Wednesday evening, April 3, the Renfe train, whose route ran from Ponferrada to Leon, was suddenly stopped by the driver about 60 kilometers before the final destination. The reason for the incident was that the driver had just finished his work shift.
As a result, 80 passengers were completely confused. For some time they waited for any explanation, and 20 minutes later the controller announced that the train was not going any further.
An hour later, a bus arrived at the station, which took 40 passengers. The others waited for the bus for another hour to get to Leon. Curiously, the driver was traveling to Leon in the same bus.
Thus, instead of the 21:00 indicated in the schedule, passengers found themselves in Leon only at 23:30.
Renfe explains the reasons for the train stop
The Renfe press service issued a release stating that the driver allegedly worked an extra 88 minutes on the previous flight and, according to the established rules, was unable to continue to operate the train. The organization referred to the requirements of ensuring transport security.
Additional incident: the Alvia train went in the wrong direction
Interestingly, there was another incident with rail transport this week. So, the Alvia passenger train accidentally left for Malaga instead of Huelva. He set off from Madrid, but chose the wrong direction at the Cordoba station. As a result, the train reached its destination, but with a huge delay.
This delay caused disruptions in the schedules of other trains. Local official Jose Luis Garcia Palacios called the situation a "disgrace" and "sloppiness."
