Elon Musk is about to introduce Hyperloop technology in Spain, a system in which vacuum capsules move through special tubes at speeds of up to 1000 km/h.
What is Hyperloop?
The entrepreneur's proposal has to do with hyperloop technology, which consists of transporting passengers or goods using a capsule displaced inside an almost vacuum tube. The movement is carried out through an innovative system that allows the capsules to levitate on the ground and move at supersonic speeds.
A concept that sounds futuristic, but is closer than ever. Opting for the transport of these capsules, the trips between Madrid and Barcelona would be just half an hour, when a high-speed train exceeds the two-hour journey time. In an even more extreme case, the distance between the United States and India could be covered in three hours.
Travel benefits
The journey from Madrid to Barcelona will take only half an hour, and the distance between the United States and India can be covered in three hours. The capacity of each capsule would be between 28 and 58 passengers and the launches will take place every minute and a half.. Although they are not very high quantities, the system proposes that one can leave the station every minute and a half, the same time that passengers take to take a seat. We cannot yet say that this technology has reached its full potential.
Moreover, its current maximum speed is around 1,200 km per hour. However, the developers hope that this means of transport will begin to be offered to the public from 2030 for national routes and that by 2040 countries and even continents will be connected.
Development prospects
The developers plan to launch domestic routes by 2030 and connect different countries and continents by 2040. Hyperloop can significantly transform international travel, reducing travel time and changing the focus of long-distance travel.
